My hostess club meets once a month and these are the projects we created this time. I was so very lucky to have my bestie, Leah, design the cards this month. She offered to design them using a new stamp set from the mini called Positive Thoughts. She also included the special release SAB coordinating dies for this set called Nature’s Thoughts.
Our goal this month to make several projects using the same stamp set so everyone can see the versatility. Often, we all get caught up with one or two color combinations, since we tend to follow the designer paper that may be marketed with the set or seeing all the ideas from our friends on the internet. Leah is great at choosing different color combinations that are not typically seen for this set.
Our first card features simple stamping – just paper, ink and stamps. #simplestamping
You can do this type of stamping with any type of image and color combination. The colors you use will determine the mood for your project – this one evokes the long-awaited Spring happiness. Take a deep breath – can you smell the sweetness of the flowers? (don’t sneeze!) She taught us how to tie a bow and attach a separate piece of ribbon that is attached to the back of the layer. This bow slides on the ribbon so it can be positioned anywhere you want it and it will never fall off. This takes a little practice, but it’s worth the effort to make sure your elements don’t come off before your recipient sees your card.
Our second project was a great fun fold. This easel card is quite simple to make so impressive when you get to see it. My favorite was while Leah was showing the card to the group and then flipped it up to show the easel, everyone gasped! This is the moment all demos love to hear!! For this project we used the Peaceful Poppies Designer Paper. Once again, we stamped a collage style image for the front and added it to a scored card base to form the easel.
If you look at the top, right card, you will see that I used a piece of the new SAB release So Very Vellum Cardstock. This vellum is so beautiful and delicious! It comes in three colors in the pack, 2 each of Pool Party, Purple Posy and Soft Sea Foam. You can get this gorgeous paper for FREE with a qualifying order during SAB – but you better hurry, this sale ends March 31st and only while supplies last.
Our third project uses the same stamp set but this time with colors that are atypical – I love how Leah has created a muted pallet with these gorgeous images using only two colors. This is also a fun fold, with the top fold tucking under the lovely flower die cut.
Our final project was a sweet little box decorated with the Peaceful Poppies DSP. We used a new box added to this year’s annual catalog called Mini Shipping Boxes. We put them together as directed and then covered with a strip of the DSP. We added a cello bag filled with peppermints and tied with some lovely ribbon. Suggested uses include a Get Well gift – add a pocket pack of tissues, a tea bag and a honey stick; fill it with paper shreds and a gift card; fill with chocolate and a K-cup of hot coffee – the possibilities are endless! The best thing about this is not having to create the box from scratch – SU! has done it for us! Just tuck the flaps into the box – no need to glue or cut anything on the box.
We all had a great time at our club class this month. I hope you enjoyed the projects!Product List
