Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Hello, friends! It is back to reality for me. Last week, I was lucky to be able to take a break with my family and travel to Destin, FL. We all love the beach and this one was beautiful! White powdery sands, gorgeous Caribbean blue waters and perfect weather.

So without further distraction, welcome to the June edition of the NC Demos Blog hop. This month, our theme is “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue”. The challenge was to create a project using something that carried over from the previous catalog, an item from the new catalog, anything blue on the project and we were supposed to borrow something from a friend or borrow an idea to create our project. I found this theme to be a lot of fun and it was surprisingly easy to come up with my design.

The Old item is also part of the blue item – I used Seaside Spray cardstock for the lighter layer, blender pens (which have been in the SU! line since I started 15 years ago) to color the little flowers, Seaside Spray ribbon and Wink of Stella.

I have several new things on this project – Vellum doilies, Misty Moonlight cardstock and ink, Misty Moonlight DSP and the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.

I borrowed the stamp sets Ornate Garden and Ornate Thanks from my dear friend, Jen (visit her blog, too! https://jenscreativestampers.wordpress.com/) She also let me borrow the Ornate Layers dies and the Ornate Borders dies. The little flowers that are fussy cut came from the Ornate Style stamp set. I also used one of the stamps from this set on the inside of the card.

I have been trying to make a habit of using more embellishments on my projects – I have them, so let’s use ’em! On this project, I used some clear droplets on the little flower centers and a few on the card front.

I enjoyed making this monochromatic card! And it was so much fun to follow such a specific theme this time. I think I may need to try out more challenges and see where they take me.

What are your favorite colors of blue? I would love to see what you make!

Follow my blog to make sure you get updates when I post a new project – you don’t want to miss any of the beautiful ideas.

Keep hopping along with the NC Demos to the next project by Laurie!

  1. Pretty card Ariel! I’m impressed with the extras you used. Ribbon and droplets and doilies. Oh my! I use rhinestones and pearls a lot, but need to get better about using more embellishments and ribbon.

  2. WOW! Another one with my favorite set EVER! I am also in love with the Seaside Spray ribbon. Perfect for winter. I can see some Christmas cards made with this idea in mind with snowflakes. Thanks for the share.
