June Host Club Projects – Whiskey and Flowers

This month’s projects for my host club focused on new stamps and die bundles from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. We created three lovely cards that are simple in design but pack a pretty potent punch (I love alliterations, don’t you?).

The first card uses the Whiskey Business stamp set and In Good Taste designer paper. These two new products work so well together! Color the whiskey with the Stampin’ Blends for a realistic look and cut out a glass or two to pop up. I added a piece of retired in-color burlap ribbon with the back facing up for added texture. Note: do not use liquid glue for this ribbon – you can see it. *sigh*

Here you can see the glass is colored with the Seaside Spray blends; the whiskey is colored with crumb cake and mango blends. I think I need to play with the color combos to get a darker amber color for the spirit. Perhaps this is my favored glass of Rumble made by Balcones Distillery in Waco, TX!

The second card we made uses the new lovely Ornate Borders dies and the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder. I kept this design simple so these elements were the star of the show. Adding a bit of shimmer ribbon adds the right finishing touch.

The greeting on this card is included in the By The Dock stamp set and the little flower is in the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set. Tip: Run the edge die through first to cut the decorations and then run the card stock through in the embossing folder – this will ensure your delicate cuts aren’t missed or destroyed if there is an embossed image that may prohibit the die from cutting completely.

Our third card is quite possibly my favorite. I saw a similar card posted on a demo site on Facebook and loved it! What a beautiful way to celebrate a birthday in July or any reason – I know I don’t usually send cards for Independence Day but I do love the patriotic colors and what feels more like summer than red, white & blue?

Here you can see the white embossed sentiment taken from a previous Paper Pumpkin set and a little scrap of silver foil paper. I added some rhinestones for shine – because how can you have a card celebrating fireworks and Independence without it?! This is such a simple card yet so striking.

Which is your favorite – the whiskey or the flowers? What color combos have you tried with the Blossoms die that you just love? Thanks for coming by!
